Me Bettex obtained his law degree in 1999 and his PhD in law in 2004 at Lausanne University. His doctoral thesis was supervised by Professor Denis Tappy, whose assistant Me Bettex was from 1999 to 2003. He also worked as a clerk of the Court of la Broye and North Vaud during this time.

He started his internship at the Rusconi and Partners law firm in 2004 and passed his bar exams in February 2006. Me Bettex then worked as a lawyer at the Python Peter law firm in Pully.

In November 2008, Me Bettex joined Deloitte SA, in the department fiscalité des personnes morales, and then Pricewaterhouse Coopers SA. From August 2013, he worked for the MCE Avocats  law firm in Lausanne.

Maître Björn Bettex joined SJA Avocats in May 2016.

His areas of expertise are commercial law, contract law, tax law and labour law. He is also active in litigation areas, such as family law and criminal law.
